Why Hemp?
Little clothes, big adventures & a fabric we fell in love with
When we first started dreaming up Tiny & Wild, we knew we wanted to create more than just lovely little clothes. We wanted pieces made for real childhood - muddy knees, woodland walks, puddle jumping, climbing, exploring and all the wonderfully wild moments in between.
And that meant finding a fabric that could keep up.
That’s when we discovered hemp blends… and we quickly realised they ticked so many of our boxes.
A little kinder to our planet
We wanted sustainability to be at the heart of Tiny & Wild. Hemp is a naturally fast-growing crop that can generally be grown with less water and fewer pesticides than conventional cotton.
For us, choosing hemp blends is one small way we can be more thoughtful about the materials we use and the world our little wild ones will grow up in.
Made for muddy knees
Children aren't exactly known for taking it easy on their clothes, and we wouldn't want them to!
Hemp fibres are naturally strong and durable, making them a brilliant choice for clothing designed to be played in, explored in and worn again and again.
Our dream is for Tiny & Wild pieces to have stories behind them, the jumper that went on countless adventures, survived plenty of washes and could eventually be passed down to another little explorer.
Comfy enough for every adventure
Durable doesn't have to mean stiff or scratchy.
By blending hemp with soft fibres such as cotton, we can create fabrics that feel comfortable and breathable, while still benefiting from hemp's natural strength.
Because whether they're building a den or curled up after a long day outside, little ones deserve to feel comfy.
Why a blend?
We love hemp, but we also want our clothes to feel lovely from the very first wear. Blending hemp with cotton allows us to bring together some of our favourite qualities from both fibres, the strength and lower-impact potential of hemp with the familiar softness and comfort of cotton.
It's about finding that happy middle ground between comfort, durability and more thoughtful choices.
For the Wild Ones
At Tiny & Wild, we believe clothes shouldn't be saved for best. They're made to collect memories in.
We want our pieces to be there for the puddle jumps, muddy hands, first adventures, woodland treasures and grass-stained knees, while making more considered choices about what they're made from.
After all, we're creating clothes for the little people who are going to inherit this beautiful, wild world.
